Before we get started please note this is NOT the LSWA (Louisiana Sportswriters Association) all state team but solely Louisiana Girls Rankings thoughts. Again with our platform we are only trying to help keep the conversation going about OUR girls so this is just another way of doing that. Each day for the next ten days we will release an all state team for one of the divisions. The Division I Select is one of the deepest divisions as this group is absolutely loaded with future college prospects and several at the division I NCAA level which always makes for a lot of great high level girls basketball!
The all state selections for Division I Select classification is listed below:
Division I Select
MVP - Chrysta Narcisse - Lafayette - Senior
Chrysta Narcisse has been a pleasure to watch her game continue to evolve over the last four years as she consistently improved her basketball skill set year in year out! The part that many may not see just observing a game as a casual fan is she is equally as talented and accomplished in the classroom and off the court winning multiple scholarships for academic on top of an athletic scholarship to South Alabama. Chrysta has left a legacy at Lafayette from the past few years and although she'll be leaving she will still have a deep impact on the success the program has in the near future as she helped lead by example with several of her young teammates especially sophomore Kira Johnson!

Coach of the Year: Tarunye Kanonu / Lafayette
- Coach Kanonu lead the Lafayette program to the 5A semifinals last year and this year they took down the juggernaut of John Curtis to bring home the state championship! The growth of this team, this program and this coaching staff at Lafayette has been so fun to watch over the past 2-3 years as they continued to reach new heights by improving year end year out leading to being the last team standing this year! Coach Kanonu did such a great job of keeping this team together early as they fought through injuries giving several other younger players opportunities to play and gain the experience they needed down the stretch. This team was playing some of the best basketball in the state in January and truly peaked at the right time after adding key players back from injury as well as Blackwell. Congratulations Coach Kanonu on the state championship and LGR's Division I Select Coach of the Year!
