Louisiana Players To Watch - Heart Of Texas Showcase

Looking forward to another week of basketball as these days seem more of a rarity in this new normal. We have four older teams traveling to the heart of Texas tournament starting tomorrow in a bracket style format for each division. I wanted to take some time to highlight a few players we have already ranked and evaluated as players to watch this weekend. Best of luck to all OUR girls playing this week... enjoy these games as we know this can be taken away from us really quickly with all the unknown of the future!

If your looking to watch the live stream you can check it out on Athlete Vision

Who To Watch: 2021's

Vici Woods - ULM Commitment

6'1 Forward / Ranked #6 / Lake City Pride

  • Probably the best rebounder in the class look for her to be active on the boards on both ends of the floor. Really excited to see her play at this level... look for her game to grow after she finds out what works and what she needs to work on to compete against a team full of college prospects.

Tyrielle Williams

5'7 Guard / Ranked #9 / Lake City Pride

  • One of the best two way guards in the class.. She makes her teammates better on both ends of the floor. Her team will lean on her to lead from the guard position with several guards staying home this week.

Marissa Tell - Grambling Commitment

6'1 Small Forward / Ranked #14 / Lake City Pride

  • Just like her teammate Woods....we're excited to see her play at this level not only to see what she excels at but to see what she needs to improve on to prepare for the next level. Her high school team ask her to do a lot...while in this setting look for her to pick her spots and stand out even more as she showcases her athleticism and looks to find her role.

Deonna Brister - Nicholls Commitment

5'11 Small Forward / Ranked #16 / Lake City Pride

  • The Nicholls commit has been actively working on her game as we've seen from a distance. She can score it on the offensive end and her length gives her an advantage on defense making her a rangy defender. Her team has a lot of length you could see her playing anywheres from the 2 to the 4 this weekend.

Presleigh Scott - Southeastern Commitment

5'10 Small Forward / Ranked #19 / Lake City Pride

  • I don't think anyone will ever question how hard she goes! She brings that toughness to a team that seems to rub off on her teammates. She's a 1,000 point scorer with a senior year left to play.... but she'll take ownership in taking whatever role the team needs.

Haley Franklin

5'6 Guard / Honorable Mention / Louisiana Lady Hoopers

  • Possibly one of the most under the radar players in this event. A junior guard for her high school team that had three senior guards with capability of playing at the next level. Has the speed, quickness to really excel in the open court. Check her out this tournament and expect her to have a big Senior season at Lee High School.

Leilani Lewis

5'7 Combo Guard / Honorable Mention / Baton Rouge Lady Tigers

  • Brings a scoring mentality to the guard position and a good one on one creator. She'll be creating a lot for the Lady Tigers this week.

Chloe Wilbanks

5'6 Point Guard / Honorable Mention / Lake City Pride

  • A true point guard, her best attribute is her passing... passes are on time and on target. Creative off the bounce and finds a way to keep her dribble alive.

Dedreka Wilson

5'8 Forward / Honorable Mention / Louisiana Lady Hoopers

  • Undersized post player with some good back to the basket moves. Uses her strength to create separation on shot attempts. How will she do versus bigger defenders?

Who To Watch: 2022's

Lauren Quinn

5'10 Forward / Ranked #5 / Lake City Pride

  • Her stock continues to rise as she hits more and more college coaches radars. Playing at a small school its hard to evaluate but this week of film with answer a lot of questions. College size and athleticism that pops even as a 2022. Don't be surprised when she makes several eye opening plays and still stands out with a gym full of other college prospects....you heard it here first!

Tia Richard

5'5 Guard / Ranked #18 / Baton Rouge Lady Tigers

  • Tia fits the role with the three headed monster of guards on this BR Tigers team. She also is a big time one on one player using change of pace to throw her defenders off. She's playing up this week and looking forward to seeing her quickness on both ends of the court.

Kaitlyn Abair

5'9 Forward / Ranked #25 / Baton Rouge Lady Tigers

  • A tweener on the basketball court as she is trying to move out to the perimeter. While this helps her inside the paint posting smaller defenders and using her quickness to take bigger post off the bounce.

Who To Watch: 2023's

Paris Guillory

5'7 Point Guard / Ranked #3 / Lake City Pride

  • A top two way guard in her class I know she has to be excited about playing up this week. Her 3pt range has really improved and look for that to stand out as we could see her more off the ball this week. Not being forced to have the ball in her hands like she's used to how will she impact the game??? She'll bring the clamps out on defense and be free to run the floor in transition on offense.

A'Yiana Flemings

6'1 Power Forward / Ranked #4 / Lake City Pride

  • The top back to the basket post in her class will stand out with her size and power despite playing up two age groups this week. Having to sit out her Freshmen year in HS this will be her first competition on this stage. The speed of the game will take an adjustment but look for eye opening flashes as her best basketball is ahead of her.

Nya Miller

5'4 Point Guard / Ranked #12 / Baton Rouge Lady Tigers

  • Nya is the 3rd member of that three headed monster of guards for the BR Tigers. She brings another scoring mindset with an ability to iso her defenders. Smaller guard with a lot of heart should be fun to watch as she's playing up two age groups.
