While class B & C have been playing for a few weeks now the majority of basketball in the state kicks off this week! What better way to get the conversation started than with having a pre-season rankings in each classification. I'm bringing it back to the good old days before the split and combining everyone just for some added debate. These rankings will be updated weekly until the end of the season. Class 5A
5A is the toughest classification in Louisiana and loaded with a ton of tough teams so it's hard to pick just a few but Captain Shreve, Ponchatoula and Parkway all return the core pieces of their team so you can imagine they will all get out to a great start and be in mid-season form here in November!

Class 4A
LaGrange will look to defend its state championship this year despite graduating a handful of seniors they return two of the top 2021 players in the state! Looking through this list of top 10 it sure would make for some great playoff games if we were all back together! Could you imagine the environment for the quarterfinal games let alone semi-final and state championship!

Class 3A
The overall crown for 3A is fairly wide open but I've got to give the slight edge to St. Louis and their overall guard play. Several of these teams will be fighting for their first state championship several years!

Class 2A
If you didn't know already each classification in Louisiana tends to have its on style of play and 2A has to be one of the fastest styles! Several of these 2A teams will run any team in the state out the gym regardless of classification. Doyle will look to defend its title after returning the majority of its roster they will have a bullseye on their back the entire season.

When you merge all three classes together man this really makes for a tough top 10! Hicks, North Central & Fairview will be fighting with some of the top teams in the state this season. If you haven't had a chance to see these programs play do yourself a favor and take a trip.... there is not much better than small town Louisiana girls basketball!
