2nd Round Matchups
LCA vs. Scotlandville
Thursday 4:00pm - Sam Houston Main Gym
LCA was in a dog fight last night with Oakdale before pulling away and its clear they are missing a step without having Taylor at point guard. While they hope to have her back soon limiting turnovers and executing on the offensive end will be key as they make a deeper run in this tournament. Scotlandville fresh off a big win over St. Amant continues to carry that momentum into the tournament with a win over Hamilton Christian in the first round.
Prediction: Scotlandville will have their hands full with the overall depth and size of LCA as the Lady Knights fix the turnover woes in the second round leading them to a victory and a semifinal birth! LCA will take on the winner of Fairview and Parkway at 9am tomorrow morning live on LGR Facebook and YouTube.

Scotlandville
Kamiera McDonald - #12 Ranked guard 2024 class
Huntington vs. Oak Hill
Thursday 5:30pm - Sam Houston Main Gym
Despite a slow start Huntington's defense is what carried them in the first round. Once they settled into things on the offensive end late in the first half they pulled away from Prep as they cruised to an easy double digit win but it's the defense of Huntington that has really stood out for this squad. On the other hand Oak Hill's pace of play and depth is what has been wearing down it's opponents to start the season. The same was the case last night as they continued to add to the lead before extending it to 20+ behind senior forward Alexis Dyer.
Prediction: This Oak Hill team may not get the credit they deserve as some would believe this should be an easy win for Huntington I look for Oak Hill to keep this game closer than some would believe. The depth of Oak Hill allows them to play at an extreme pace and if they are hitting the three point shot at a high clip they can play with anyone in the state. Unfortunately for Oak Hill the Huntington Lady Raiders have arguably the deepest backcourt in the entire state and they will be able to weather the storm with 4 or 5 guards that will someday play college basketball! This could be one of the best games of the day but Huntington's defense and guard play carries them down the stretch as they pull away in the 4th qtr to advance to the semifinals where they will play the winner of Rosepine and Wossman at 10:30am on LGR Live both Facebook and YouTube.
Huntington
Carley Hamilton - #6 ranked player 2025 class Jamar'i Bell - #15 ranked player 2025 class Jaila Marshall - #16 ranked player 2025 class Kyndal Graham - #2 ranked player 2026 class
Oak Hill
Alexis Dyer - #9 ranked forward 2024 class Jodie Jowers - Honorable Mention 2025 class
Fairview vs. Parkway
Thursday 7:00pm - Sam Houston Main Gym
In a rematch from last years game that saw one of the smallest schools in the state in Fairview defeat one of the biggest schools in the state Parkway we are in for a treat with this game! Parkway defeated John Curtis last night behind a great outing from senior Chloe Larry and she'll look to continue where she left off. Fairview out lasted Vanderbilt Catholic behind point guard Reese Jinks 20pts and 10+ assist along with seventh grader Andi Turner's (8) made threes.
Prediction: This game can really go either way but it will rely heavily on two major factors. Which team makes the most three's and which team can control the boards. I think the difference in this game could be the addition of Dakota Howard back on the floor for Parkway as she dominates the offensive and defensive boards. Behind a massive double double Dakota helps lead Parkway into the semifinals as they will play the winner of LCA and Scotlandville on LGR Live Facebook and YouTube tomorrow morning.
Parkway
Chloe Larry - #3 ranked overall prospect 2024 class (Tennessee Tech Signee)
Dakota Howard - #12 ranked overall prospect 2025 class
Savannah Wilson - #17 ranked overall prosepct 2025 class
Zara Baker - #9 ranked guard in the 2026 class
Fairview
Reesie Jinks - Honorable Mention guard 2025 (Fastest Pace of Play in the State at PG)
Andi Turner - One of top shooters in the 2029 class (7th grade starter)
Rosepine vs. Wossman
Thursday 8:30pm - Sam Houston Main Gym
Again we have a matchup of two defending state champions and both of these teams bring back the majority of their rosters as they will both look to make deep runs again and win another state championship. Rosepine defeated Ruston despite missing a starter due to injury the team looked like a well oiled machine ready to make another deep run. While Wossman defeated LaGrange in what was a very close back and forth game early in the 1st half ended up being a 30+ point win for Wossman as they settled into a groove late in the 1st half pulling away with ease.
Prediction: Two defending state champions and two well coached teams this game is an interesting one. I would of liked to seen Rosepine fully healthy for this one although I'm not sure that would of made a big difference I believe they can match up with the guard play across the board that Wossman has..... but it's the inside of Augurson and Burton from Wossman that Rospine will have no answer for. Wossman cruises to the semifinals behind a dominating performance inside where they will play the winner of Huntington and Oak Hill on LGR Live Facebook and YouTube tomorrow at 10:30am.
Players to Watch:
Rosepine
Addison Fruge - Top 30 ranked gaurd 2024 class
Kelly Norris - Top 30 ranked 2024 Class
Nevaeh Rivera - Honrable mention guard 2024 class
Wossman
Brittany Burton - #6 ranked overall prospect 2024 class (Southeastern Signee)
Da'Naya Ross - #7 ranked overall prospect 2024 class
Ramiah Augurson - #3 ranked overall prospect 2025 class
Anyra Wilson - #2 ranked point guard in the 2025 class
Oakdale vs. Hamilton Christian
Thursday 4:00pm - Sam Houston Aux Gym
Oakdale earned a lot of respect last night with the battle they gave LCA as did Hamilton Christian with Scotlandville. Both teams will look to bounce back to get into the win column. A key matchup to keep an eye on is Hamilton's senior PG McKenzie Devile matching up with Oakdale's senior PG Akeelah Hobson.
Prediction: Oakdale played really well against LCA last night and this could be a trap game as they are not having to turn around and play Hamilton Christian less than 24 hours later. I believe the Oakdale team is a little deeper and they get after it on the defensive end which will make points hard to come by for Hamilton. Oakdale wins this one and advances to the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
Hamilton Christian
McKenzie Devile - Top 15 guard 2024 class
Kayla Harding - A Top rising prospect 2028 class
Oakdale
Akeelah Hobson - #18 ranked PG 2024 class
Emani Young - Top 30 ranked guard 2025 class
Vandebilt Catholic vs John Curtis
Thursday 5:30pm - Sam Houston Aux Gym
Wow what a match up in the consolation bracket as this game could have 6-7 college prospects on the court at one time. Both teams are coming off of tough losses as they each played really well just didn't come out on top it's hard to believe one of these teams will leave this tournament 0-2 but that's exactly what will happened to whomever comes up short tonight.
Prediction: This game will be about who can bounce back from last nights loss the quickest and whoever jumps out to an early lead in my opinion will have a huge advantage. A key matchup I'll be keeping an eye on is Makayla Charles vs. Imani Daniels as the two big guards will have a big impact on this game. Defense travels and defense wins games when match ups are this close.... at this point in the season Vandebilt Catholic is playing better defense from top to bottom so I'm going to give them the slight edge in a close one as VC wins and advances to the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
John Curtis
Imani Daniel - #7 ranked player 2025 class
Chikae Desdunes - #1 ranked player 2026 class
Ke'Sonia Nelson - Top 25 ranked guard 2026 class
Vandebilt Catholic
Gabby Campbell - Top 30 ranked gaurd 2024 class
Makayla Charles - #9 Ranked player 2025 class
Makensie Charles - Honarable Mention 2025 class
Journee Johnson - Top 10 ranked guard in 2026 class
Ruston vs. LaGrange
Thursday 7:00pm - Sam Houston Aux Gym
Ruston has been impressive and we have them as one of our top teams in D1 Non Select this season as they are lead by senior guard McWain. LaGrange as well is one of our top D2 Non Select teams this season behind seniors Leblanc and Wilson. This will be another great matchup of two teams that we expect to make deep playoff runs this year.
Prediction: LaGrange came out on fire vs. Wossman last night can they carry that same energy over into tonights game? Ruston had just a few dry spells that lead to huge runs by Rosepine can they limit those runs tonight? A key to this game will be LaGrange senior Leblanc and the matchup she has inside. I believe Leblanc gets the better of her matchup and leads LaGrange with a big double double and a win as they advance to the semifinals of the consolation bracket.
LaGrange
Kylei Leblanc - #5 ranked forward 2024 class
Katelynn Wilson - Honorable mention 2024 class
Ruston
Jaliyah McWain - #10 ranked point guard 2024 class Zaccheya Jackson - Honorable Mention guard 2024 class
Madison Prep vs Lafayette
Thursday 8:30pm - Sam Houston Aux Gym
Prep had their hands full with a loaded Huntington in round one and while they competed early the depth of Huntington pulled away late in the 1st half. On the other end Lafayette was in a similar position as they are fighting through some injuries of their own and also limited with depth allowed Oak Hill to wear them down.
Prediction: This game is going to be a battle of who wants it more and I'm excited to see the matchup of Lafayette's Kira Johnson and Prep's Brooklyn Smith. Johnson has some of the best change of pace in the state and Smith is a raising star at the guard position. This game will be another one that could come down to the wire but the limited depth of Lafayette will leave the door open for Madison Prep to pull off the win down the stretch. Prep wins and will advance to the consolation semifinals.
Lafayette
Grace Paul - #6 ranked forward/post in the 2024 class
Kira Johnson - #4 ranked palyer 2025 class
Madison Prep
Paige Hawkins - A top guard in the 2025 class
